Our Dinner Club

'One Night in Rio' was the first of a series of dinner parties set at a secret location, where guests sit around a big table, socialise and enjoy delicious food, prepared with much care and the best ingredients.
The evening started with a bowl of deep fried cassava and a glass of caipirinha, followed by mussels and prawns in spicy coconut sauce, fragrant rice and a salad of char-grilled vegetables.
We finished the meal with passion fruit pannacotta, Brazilian coffee and home-made fennel seed shortbread -all to the sound of old samba songs!

'The Egg and the Chicken' dinner club was inspired by an interview with the late Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector, televised in 1977. If you speak Portuguese, you should watch it! Look for it on YouTube.
Our menu for the occasion was home-made pumpkin ravioli with broth and haricot beans; chicken stew with tomato and rosemary, served with soft polenta and a peppery watercress salad; then lemon mousse and lavender shortbread.

On Sunday 29th November we ran 'Pipoca
Moderna', an evening of films, food and wine set exclusively at a small cinema and dining parlour in Soho.

At 5 o'clock we were all invited into the screening room for films and popcorn
and at 7pm food was served in the dinning room. This time our guests were greeted with a warming bowl of pumpkin and king prawn soup, followed by chicken with mustard seed and coconut milk, lemon rice and French bean salad.
Dessert? Upside-down apple pie and cinnamon ice cream!

Cooking with flowers

My friend Daniel Pescio is an independent perfumer from Paris, trained at the Institut Superieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmetique et de l'Aromatique Alimentaire.
He will come to London to cook at our dinner club (we haven't agreed on a date yet) and we'll be devising a menu together, using flowers and essential oils. Very exquisite!
At the time, he will also be giving workshops for those who would like to learn all about perfumes or even dream of making their own eau de cologne one day. If you would like to know more, please e-mail us at pmcooks@gmail.com or danpescio@hotmail.com
